                                     The Process - Group Work

There will be eight groups of four students each.  And each group will be assigned these tasks ant the beginning of the Revolutionary War Unit.  

                                            Part One
1)  Each group will be assigned a document to research together within the group.  Each person in the group is to find one resource (and different from everyone elses resource) to use to add information for the final product.  Criteria for this paper is: who wrote it, why was it written, when was it written, and for whom was it written.  For the resource you find, make sure to put your name next to it. This will be a 2 page typed paper in 12 point Times New Roman font.

2)  Each group will be assigned an event that took place in the every day lives of the Colonists.  These events actually lead up to the very start of the Revolutionary War.  For this assignment, each person in the group is to find one resource (and different from everyone elses resource) to use to add information for the final product.  For the resource you find, make sure you put your name next to it.  The criteria for this paper is: why did this event happen, who was involved, who was at the forefront of events, when did it happen, where did it happen.  This will be a 2 page typed paper in 12 point Times New Roman font.

            The formation of the Sons of Liberty (1765)
            Colonists Respond with boycotts (1767)
            British Troops land in Boston (1768)
            Boston Massacre (1770)
            Boston Tea Party (1772)
            First Continental Congress meets (1774)
            Second Continental Congress meets (1775)
            Paul Revere's Ride (1775)

                                                                                            Part Three
3)  Each group will be assigned a governmental act imposed on the Colonists by the British Government.  These so called "acts" imposed on the Thirteen Colonies also lead up to the Revolutionary War (the same time frame as the events in activity #2).  For this assignment, each person in the group is to find one resource (and different from everyone elses resource) to use to add information for the final product.  The criteria for this paper is: when the "act" imposed, who it affected, was it repealed, who were the leaders who led the fight to change these.  For the resource you find, make sure you put your name next to it.  This will be a 2 page typed paper in 12 point Times New Roman font.

                 The Process - Individual Work

            Aside from the group work, each student will do some individual research on a battle during the Revolutionary War and two prominant people people who helped the course of events leading to and during the Revolutionary War and Independence.  These documents are to be 2 pages long each, double spaced with 12 point Times New Roman font and double spaced.  Please include a resource page and one resource has to be a book.  You may include a photo if you like.

                                                    Part One
1)  For the battle you are assigned, the information you need to include will be: date, location, casualties, length of time spent fighting, any special factors why the battle took place there, who won the battle, and any other information you think note worthy.  This is to be a 2 page typed paper using 12 point Times New Roman font, double spaced.  Use  three (3) sources and one (1) has to be a book.  A battle will be assigned to you from this list:

2)  You will be assigned two prominent people, one male and one female, who helped the course of events leading up to and during the Revolutionary War and Independence.  You will need to include: date of birth and location, occupation, education, family life, their claim to fame, were they a patriot or a loyalist, and any facts that seem interesting.  This will be a 2 page paper for each person you are assigned, double spaced in 12 point Times New Roman font.  Please include a resource page.  Site three (3) sources and one (1) has to be a book.  The list of pominant people are listed below:
